Coating Doesn't Have to Be Difficult
DIY ceramic coating may seem complicated, but it is actually easy to do. In the past, many coatings required both training and experience. Today, several user-friendly solutions have emerged that make it possible for anyone to achieve professional results without certification. All you need is patience and a little guidance, and you can successfully apply the coating yourself.
What is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is the ultimate paint protection. It is an advanced version of paint sealant that creates a permanent film on the car's paint. This film protects the paint from dirt, grime, salt, insects, bird droppings, car scratches and the sun's UV rays. In addition, it provides a beautiful, shiny and smooth surface.
Many coatings claim to reduce car scratches. This is partly true, but you still need to wash your car correctly. The coating makes it harder to get car scratches, but it is not a guarantee that you can wash your car incorrectly.
Benefits of Ceramic Coating
- Water and dirt repellency Keeps the car clean longer. Makes cleaning easier and faster.
- Long durability Protects the paint for 1-9 years depending on the product. Coatings with longer durability often require certification.
- Reduced risk of car scratches The coating provides an extra layer of protection on top of the paint. Less risk of car scratches during hand washing and wiping. Coatings such as Elite and GSo2 have a self-healing effect, which removes light car scratches under heat.
- Intense gloss Provides a deep and mirror-like finish that looks better than when the car was new.
Ceramic Coating DIY – Preparation
Preparation is the key to a good result. Follow these steps to ensure your car's paint is ready for ceramic coating:
- Wash the car thoroughly: Make sure to clean all edges and corners so that no dirt remains.
- Degrease the surface: Use rust and tar remover to remove rust and tar stains.
- Clean the paint: Use a clay bar to remove ingrained dirt and to make the paint completely smooth.
- Polishing (optional): Polish the car to remove car scratches, this also removes the last of the ingrained dirt.
- Degrease the paint again: Use scan inspection spray so that the coating adheres as well as possible to the paint.

The actual application varies slightly depending on which ceramic coating you have chosen.

NXTZEN Ceramic
- Apply a thin strip of ceramic coating to the applicator.

- Apply the coating to one panel at a time. Divide large panels into sections.
- Use a crisscross pattern to ensure you don't miss any areas.
