Why do my windows get so dirty when I don't touch them?

Although you would think that if you just didn't touch them at all, they would stay quite clean and neat for an incredibly long time. Unfortunately, that's not entirely the case, both because we often put suction cups on the window, or touch them when there's moisture on them.

The biggest reason why your windows look greasy and foggy, however, is because your cabin is outgassing, i.e. plastic like your dashboard. This happens, among other things, when it is in the sun and the plastic gets hot, it releases a lot of gases that are not visible, but stick to the inside of your windshield.

Especially when there is strong light in the evening or the sun is directly on your windshield, it looks dull and is harder to see out of, so it is a really good idea to clean them.

Simon's favorite combination

Just like for exterior window cleaning, my favorite combination is Perfect Glass Cleaner. from Shiny Garage , and the use of two different glass cloths. Here I use Premium Glass and Dry Me a River from The Rag Company . Spray Perfect Glass Cleaner on the glass, use Premium Glass first, then Dry Me a River to remove excess glass cleaner and streaks.

There are several different glass cloths, and this is just my favorite combination, you can easily choose some of the other glass cloths I offer and get good results.

Prevent fogging on the inside of the window

While this is certainly not a guarantee to completely avoid fogging, I have certainly had great success with this trick, and unfortunately it requires you to have air conditioning. By using air conditioning all year round, you dehumidify the cabin, so when you have had a wet jacket or shoes inside the car, this moisture is removed quite naturally.

This way you avoid doing the quick trick of using your hand to remove the mist so you can get on with your work, which results in a greasy windshield when it dries up.
