Can you wash your car without Snowfoam or pre-wash? You can, but we always recommend using one of them because it softens and dissolves the dirt and grime that is on your car's paint.
By breaking down the dirt and grime that is on your car's paint, you can easily remove it before you start touching the car's paint with a washing glove. This reduces the risk of scratches from washing.
The more you have to touch the car and rub it to remove the dirt, the more risk there is that you will make a lot of trouble in the form of scratches and micro-scratches.
It is therefore a really good idea to spray the entire car with a layer of pre-wash or snowfoam before you start, and rinse it off thoroughly.
If you really want to be on the safe side, you can reapply a layer of snowfoam and use it as an extra lubricant together with your car shampoo.

Can I just give the foam a pre-wash?
Our experience with foam pre-washes, after trying countless different versions over the past 10 years, is that although they remove a lot of dirt and grime, they cannot simply be sprayed on, rinsed off and voila, a clean car is waiting.
Some manufacturers may promise a little too much, compared to what is realistic about the product, and one of the problems with these ''spray on, rinse off, and boom clean car'' products is that they often use very strong chemicals, and this can damage both your rubber strips and your existing paint protection.
Therefore, unfortunately, you have to go out with the washing mitt and wash yourself. Foam pre-wash and snowfoam, however, help soften and dissolve as much dirt as possible, so that you don't spread the dirt around on your car's paint, and this means that you have the least possible risk of making scratches from the wash.
pH neutral snowfoam & prewash
pH neutral snowfoam and pre-wash is undoubtedly the most popular, its pH neutral is around 7, which means it is neither acid nor alkaline based. Therefore, it is also very gentle on your car's paint, and its paint protection like car wax or paint sealant.

Citrus based snowfoam & prewash
Citrus based snowfoam and pre-wash was one of the big reasons we chose to resell car care products, we simply fell in love with how great a product it was to use for cars that either needed a thorough car wash, paint cleaning or needed to be cleaned before polishing.
It is fantastic for removing a lot of dirt and grime, even on hoods that look tired and green.
Simon's favorite within this category is undoubtedly Pre-Wash Concentrate, which can be used for both snowfoam and pre-wash.
They are typically not pH neutral, and therefore have more power behind them, which can damage or completely remove wax or paint sealant from your car's paint. On the other hand, they are incredibly effective at removing the dirt and traffic film that sits on the surface.
If you have just applied wax or varnish sealant, I do not recommend this type.
Acid based snowfoam & prewash
Yes, you read that right! There really is an acid-based snowfoam and pre-wash, it is of course not directly acid, but simply based on acid. It is fantastic for removing old car wax, paint sealant, dirt, grime and not least light lime stains.
When should I use this type of snowfoam?
Before the car is polished
Before the car needs new car wax or paint sealant

At the same time as varnish cleaning
But why on earth use an acid-based pre-wash? Well, if you're going to get your car's paint completely clean and give it a little extra love, in the form of paint cleaning, polishing or even new paint protection, then this is definitely a candidate for that.
Double Sour from Shiny Garage can be used as snowfoam, pre-wash and car shampoo and is great for getting to the bottom of things.
Unfortunately, many ceramic treatments suffer from being weak against the build-up of limescale.
