What is car wax?
Car wax is a natural product based on carnauba wax. Car wax is used to give your car a protective film that prevents insect stains, bird droppings and UV rays from damaging the car's paint.
When you treat your car with wax, you also get an incredibly warm and deep rich shine that cannot be described but only experienced. Although ceramic coating is the hottest thing, there are actually very few of them that can give this warm and rich deep shine.
Having your car treated with wax also makes it easier to clean, as dirt has a harder time sticking to the surface, and the same goes for water, making it easier to wipe it off after you've finished washing your car.
When can I wax my car?
You can wax your car when it is completely clean, i.e. washed thoroughly and preferably given some form of varnish cleaner, i.e. removed rust, tar etc. from the car's surface. This will make it look nicer, as stuck-on dirt and grime will prevent your car from giving off the shine that it actually has.
It also gives the wax a much better adhesion, which makes it last longer, so it is definitely worth the extra time.
But in short, your car just needs to be washed clean, and then you can apply the wax.
What types of car wax are there?
There are roughly two types. Carnauba and Polymer based car wax. Carnauba is the most well known and the one that gives the most of the deep rich color, however it has a disadvantage, and that is they usually don't last incredibly long, so you have to reapply it more often.
Polymer based still has the benefits of Carnauba, although not as powerful as a deep rich warmth and depth, but in return comes ahead in its increased shine and length of protection, because you can actually get them with up to 12 months of protection.
If we take Fusso Coat from Soft99 , it is a Polymer based car wax that really just plays, and it performs extremely well. If you love to see your car beading off the water, and want it to be easy to apply, and not have to be reapplied too often, then this is the one to choose.
Car wax with color, my car is black, which wax should I choose?
Although it doesn't really matter what color your car is, as long as it's been treated with clearcoat, and if it's recent, you can expect it to be clearcoat with 99% certainty. If you're in doubt, please ask.
But even though it doesn't really matter, Soft99 has chosen to be a little different, as there is actually a difference between their Dark and White wax.
In their Dark Wax , they have chosen to add some ingredients that fill in some of the ugly scratches on the car's surface, whereas the other, White wax, does not contain them.
No matter which one you choose, you will have a fantastic experience.
Can spray wax be used?
Like so many other things, they each have their advantages and with liquid wax, also called spray wax, you simply spray it directly onto the car while it is completely clean, and wipe it off with a microfiber cloth.
Whereas the hard traditional wax requires it to harden before it can be wiped off.
