pH Neutral rim cleaner

The pH neutral rim cleaner is primarily designed to maintain your rims, although there are rim cleaners within this category that can be used to remove very dirty rims, they run out of power if they are very bad.

They are great for removing dirt when you regularly clean your rims, and they also don't harm the protection you may have given the rims.

Rim cleaner with or without acid

The last category are the rim cleaners that contain acid or have a high pH value. There are a lot of advantages to having a rim cleaner that is either acid or alkaline, as they can much more easily remove brake dust that is really burned into the rims, i.e. dirt that has been sitting on them for a very long time.
